About

The journey began in 2018 with the launch of the Horizon2020 research project HYPERNETS. Inspired by the success of the AERONET-OC and RadCalNet networks, HYPERNETS aimed to develop a new, fully automated hyperspectral radiometer system – the HYPSTAR® (HYperspectral Pointable System for Terrestrial and Aquatic Radiometry) – along with an associated data processing pipeline. The project also aimed to establish networks for automated multiangular reflectance measurements of water and land. The HYPERNETS ambition was to become the primary source of surface reflectance validation data for all spectral bands of all optical satellite missions for at least the next decade. To ensure sustainable operation and expansion of the network after the Horizon2020 project, the radiometer systems needed to be commercially available. This responsibility has been taken over by RSware OÜ, a company that spun off from the HYPERNETS project.
